FIRST VISIT?
When you come to the office, you'll park behind the building. To your left, you'll see a small landing on the SIDE of the building. Enter there, and come up the flight of steps. I am in office number 4. I'll get some information on your medical history, and do some assessments, like checking your hip alignment, your posture, the arches of your feet. Next, we'll talk together about the type of massage that would benefit you. Some people are looking just for a nice relaxing massage. Some people have chronic conditions, and may want me to focus on only the areas bothering them. Some clients just come for relief of headaches, and I may only focus on their scalp, and neck. It is truly custom to what is best for you. Then, I will leave the room and allow you to disrobe to your level of comfort, and you lie down on the table, completely covered with a sheet and light blanket. Often, first time clients may worry about their bodies....skin conditions, weight issues, did they shave?? Rest assured, I take no notice of things like this. I want you to truly feel comfortable on the table. We are all human! So try to let that go! The table is heated, if you'd like. I'll give you time to settle in, and knock before I re-enter the room. Usually soft music is playing, and you can pick the type of music you'd like to listen to. I generally quiet down during the massage, so you can truly relax. However, I ask that you speak up to let me know if pressure needs to be adjusted, or you simply don't like something. For a typical relaxation massage, I start clients on their backs, and I start at the scalp, face, neck, into the shoulders, then down either arm, and anterior legs, then feet. During this time you will be draped with the sheet, and only the area that I am working on will be undraped. Then, I'll assist you to roll over onto your stomach, and get comfortable in the face cradle. I continue by massaging up the posterior legs, hips and finally back. I'll often use heated towels at the end of the massage. My style of massage is very slow, but firm pressure. When the massage is complete, I'll grab you a bottle of water, then leave the room so you have time to dress. At that point, I collect my fee, and if you choose, we can schedule your next session.
